About AFS

AFS is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. AFS Interkulturelle Begegnungen e.V. is the unaffiliated German member within the worldwide network of about 60 independent AFS partner organizations.
 
AFS Germany is offering voluntary services with various short- and long-term exchange programs for participants over 18 years and has more than 20 years of experience in sending out young people to volunteer. AFS is recognized as an official sending organization of the “weltwärts”-program and the International Youth Voluntary Service (IJFD) of the German government as well as the European Voluntary Service (EVS) / European Solidarity Corps (ESC). AFS is recognized as an NGO of independent youth welfare by German law.
