The ijgd is a specialist organisation for short- and long-term voluntary services. The charitable and independent organisation was founded by an initiative of pupils from Hannover after the Second World War. The aim was to support peace and the communication among nations. It is important for our work to acknowledge and appreciate the volunteers’ commitment. Our task as responsible body is to find volunteers and to support them in their reflection and later evaluation of their voluntary service. Ijgd, as a charity and through ist work with the instrument “voluntary service“, wants to sharpen the understanding of young people for their responsibilities in society and their scope to bring about change.
